OUR STORY

The story of Bombay Sprout begins when founder Zara Bolingbroke-Kent was a little girl. Her childhood was spent in a rambling rectory in North Norfolk, a family home that was imbued with colour and filled with exotic artefacts that her father - an antiquarian bookseller - would bring back from his travels around the world. Inspired by her gloriously eccentric parents and kaleidoscopic surroundings, Zara spent her formative years doodling endlessly in sketchbooks and constantly rearranging her bedroom.

This passion for design saw Zara go on to enjoy great success as an interior designer for more than two decades. Known for her bright palettes, eclectic style and fresh approach, she has overseen myriad commercial and residential projects, both in the UK and further afield, including Holkham Hall.

Combining her love of travel with a penchant for creating imaginative interiors, Zara established Bombay Sprout in 2017, an independent design brand based in light, airy premises in the beautiful village of Burnham Market in rural North Norfolk.

Our upstairs studio is where Zara designs her extensive range of Dhurrie rugs and fabrics. Though she cites the nearby coastline as a constant source of inspiration, all these products are made in different regions of India, a country that Zara is deeply passionate about.

Downstairs, our shop sells an ever-evolving collection of decorative homewares, fashion and - of course - our fabrics and rugs. We only source and design things that we feel will add a little joy and colour to your everyday - we hope you love them as much as we do.
