Our hand woven Jute rugs are perfect for adding a layer of texture and giving anywhere in your home a smart and rustic feel. Jute is grown on the fertile plains of the Ganges Delta and is one of the softest natural fibres. This hot, humid region lies mostly in Bangladesh and provides the perfect conditions for jute to flower. At the end of the growing season the plants are harvested by hand and the stalks soaked in water for up to twenty days. This careful process allows the long strands of jute fibre to be separated and then hung to dry naturally in the warmth of the sun. Jute is also completely biodegradable and the fibre recyclable, making it therefore sustainable.
"Made slow, to live long"
All over the world, artisans are coming under threat from mass production and we want to create a sanctuary for artisans, valuing slow production over fast, the human hand over machine and natural materials over the synthetic.
